About Me
Data scientist, AI consultant, and builder. I turn complex, real world problems into reliable software, models, and dashboards that people actually use.

Hi, I'm Michael Jacot
I am a data scientist and software developer with 6 plus years of experience building decision tools for energy, maritime, and finance. I specialize in Python, machine learning, time series, and modern web stacks that make insights measurable and repeatable.
I studied Physics and Computer Science at Dalhousie University. Professionally, I lead and ship analytics at GIT Coatings, where I have worked as Data Scientist, Vessel Analytics and Software Lead, and now Data Science Lead. My work spans data infrastructure, forecasting, model validation, and productizing analytics for internal teams and clients.
Outside of tech, I play squash, manage and invest in realestate, and work in the garden spending hundreds of dollars and days of my summer producing strawberries that I could have bought from the grocery store for 4$.
My Approach
I write clean, maintainable code and ship in tight feedback loops. My development philosophy centers around:
- User centered design: build tools around real workflows and decisions
- Measurable outcomes: define success metrics, test against reality, iterate
- Performance and reliability: optimize for speed, robustness, and traceability
- Accessible by default: clear visuals, keyboard friendly, readable at a glance
- Tested and versioned: automate checks, document assumptions, keep data lineage
Let's Connect
I am open to select consulting and build sprints. If you need a model shipped, a dashboard stood up, or a system to scale, reach out through the contact page and we can talk about goals, timelines, and scope.
